Unlike the usual cafés, this time I’m introducing a chinese restaurant! My family has been frequenting this restaurant for quite some time now, we used to frequent Pu Tien for family lunch but ever since it got famous, the prices increased too thus discovering Xing Hua was definitely a great alternative for us. Xing Hua offers pretty much the same menu as Pu Tien, slightly lesser variety of course as it’s much smaller in size but the main dishes are pretty much the same. I personally do feel the food taste better, if not on par with Pu Tien. Finally had a chance to visit the place with the boy and since there were only two of us, we couldn’t order that many dishes but these three are certainly my favourites. Not to forget their mad awesome homemade chilli which is not too spicy, yet not not spicy (you get what I mean).
First up for the mains, you MUST try their Lor Mee. Throughout the time we were eating, every single customer who entered ordered this dish. I know, you must be thinking why isn’t it black in colour, this is just another type I guess, but much more delicious than the usual ones you see around. We never fail to order this when we’re there, also the best time to spam their chilli with it, just like match made in heaven. Another favourite would be their fried yam, sweet & crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. I never liked to eat yam, in fact this is the only yam dish that I’ll eat, yummy as it is. Vegetables wise we would order the one with their so-called superior stock and century egg, double up as a soup dish too. It should be their chicken stock if I’m not wrong. Some other dishes my family usually orders would be their dried bee hoon, hot plate toufu, sweet & sour pork (: do visit the restaurant & give them a try when you’re there!
